We have a very good chance (depending on our candidate – more of that later) of taking back the mayoralty in three years’ time. In which case, where would Izzard’s ambitions stand then? Would he plan to deselect a victorious Labour incumbent before the 2020 poll? Or is this his way of implying that we don’t have a snowball’s chance next time round? Surely the latter is a tad defeatist given London’s tendency (usually) to vote Labour?
