 | The first recording of George Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess" to feature jazz singers and musicians instead of operatic singers and a classical orchestra, starring Mel Tormé and Frances Faye. Released originally as Bethlehem EXLP1 (USA 1956) as a three record set (complete recording), but soon reissued on a single album titled "A Jazz Version of Highlights from the Opera Porgy and Bess", Bethlehem BCP 6040 (USA 1960) > Ember CEL 900 (England 1962) housed in a completely different cover. Stereo enhanced mono.
