One of the most influential American jazz drummers of the post-bop era, born in 1927 in Pontiac, Michigan, well remembered as a sideman for Charles Mingus, Bud Powell, Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Recorded live at the Village Vanguard, NYC in 1968 with George Coleman (tenor sax), Wilbur Little (bass) and Marvin Peterson (trumpet on "Mister Jones"). US issue, possibly a bit later pressing.
