 | In 1972, festival producer George Wein transplanted the famous Newport Jazz Festival to New York City, calling it the Newport Jazz Festival-New York. An expanded format involved multiple venues, that year including Yankee Stadium and Radio City Music Hall. The 1972 festival consisted of thirty concerts with a total of 62 all-star performers. This is the first volume of jam sessions recorded live at Radio City Music Hall, July 6, 1972. Two side-long tracks ("Jumpin' at the Woodside" and "Lo-Slo Bluze" only, featuring Cat Anderson, Milt Bruckner, Alan Dawson, Roland Hanna, Charles McPherson, Charles Mingus, Jimmy Owens and Buddy Tate. German sample copy issue of (record 1 only) of Cobblestone / Buddah CST-9025-2 (2-LP).
