| One of the great American rhythm & blues / soul singers, born in 1935 in Galveston, Texas. Great funky r&b with Joe Beck, Steve Kahn, Eric Weissberg, Don Grolnick, Will Lee, Chris Parker, Ralph MacDonald, Mike Brecker, Randy Brecker, David Sanborn, Jon Faddis, John Gatchell and Alan Rubin. Credited to Esther Phillips with Beck. Her 12th or so album, the 4th one for Kudu.
